Why Mission Netaji?

Why Mission Netaji ?

I would like to answer a basic question, which is often put to us. 'What is the relevance of this case in modern India and what is Mission Netaji?

I am sure, all of us are worried about the basic problems that our country is facing today, be it corruption, education, cast system, and unemployment etc and we are trying to find out various methods to tackle them. But, have we ever thought about the root of this problem? Let us take the example of corruption, why does a person become corrupt? If some one comes and offers me a bribe, what is my immediate reaction? How dare you? (but as the amount goes higher, the chances of us evaluating the option increases). Why 'dare'? Because I am a person of self respect and I will not fall below my standard. Who set my standard? What I know myself too be…. What do I know myself to be? …through what is around me and the standard set by the environment around me.

When I know that my grand father fought for India's freedom, was jailed, suffered like Bhagat Singh, I value the freedom I have earned. Children today simply don't value India's freedom because they don't know what actually went into it. The real history of the freedom movement has been suppressed… We are told that it was won by people going on fast and sitting quietly in non-violence. It is not true! The greater change was brought by those who fought for freedom, but their sacrifices are not listed …our history books still don't say that Bhagat Singh fasted for 40 days… We are not told about people like Netaji, and his position in Indian/Asian/ World politics and his contribution to Indian Independence. We are not told how apt a nation builder he was and how he put his plans into practice in Indian Legion, Azad Hind Fauj, Azad Hind Govt and changed the social life of 3 Mn Indians in East Asia completely by creating a feeling of self respect and giving them a purpose to live/die for. We are not told that he was the first Congress President who talked about the intention of the British to partition India as early as 1937-1938. He was the first to talk about the necessity of a common link language, greeting and common compulsory education for all Indians. He was first to talk about the necessity of 'radical Land Reforms' and the up-liftment of women in India. He was also the first congress President to talk about the need for Industrialization and the role of Science and Technology in building a nation. He was also the first Congress President who emphasized on Planning Commission for Free India and formed the 'National Planning Committee', with all necessary guidelines… but he is dismissed in one paragraph, 'He also fought'.

Notice all the great civilizations of the world, they have all worshipped their ancestors and know of their sufferings…Israel today is suffering against the most extreme pressures surrounded on all sides…what have they done to make themselves strong? Every child is taught that 6Mn Jews died so that you can be free, so be worthy of your freedom…what a tremendous moral strength this gives you. On the other hand we have not been told that 30 Mn Indians died in the first 50 years of British Rule in India and also by creating an artificial famine in Bengal and Orissa in 1942 they killed another 4 Mn,  see how we treat our Real National Hero's who laid down their every thing so that we the next generation may breathe in free India and live a modern life.. Netaji was one such person who was capable of restructuring India in a planned and effective way into a modern nation, a man declared by the British as the 'No.1 Enemy of the Empire', and about whom they say that even after persistent pressures put on him, he did not compromise. If this is the treatment to the one time President of the INC and the 1st President of the Indian Govt. in Exile then what benchmark of morality are we setting for ourselves? How will we ever feel proud of our country in the true sense?

Most of the problems in our society today are because we don't know our past and therefore don't have self-respect to set things right! MN is thus an effort to tell the people of India about themselves, about their past and about the sufferings that the past has gone through to bring us where we are today and thus help to set a standard for every Indian and his life. And we have chosen to unearth the truth related to Netaji as it has the biggest potential to bring about this required change and be a stepping-stone to a new proud India based on Truth!!!
