Reaction to the Italian Ambassador's statement on Netaji's Death

The Prime Minster of Italy,
Rome.
Italy.

Subject :  Statement of Italy’s Ambassador in India about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Hon’ble Mr.Prime Minister,
Jai Hind.

I beg to draw your kind attention to a statement which is reported to have been made by Mr.Alessandro Quaroni, Italy’s Ambassdor to India about the legendry revolutionary hero of India Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. You may be aware of the fact that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the Head of Provisional Govt of Azad Hind and the Supreme Commander of the Indian National Army organized by him in the South East Asia during the Second World War, was alleged to have died in an air crash at Taihoku in Taiwan on 18th August,1945 in an air crash. The people of India and also of many other countries never accepted Netaji’s death in the alleged air crash. Compelled by the public demand, the Govt. of India had to thrice appoint Inquiry Committee or Inquiry Commission to probe into the matter. Justice M.K.Mukherjee Commission of Inquiry was the last such Commision. It has given it’s finding that  : “He did not die in the plane crash,as alleged.”

The Govt. of Taiwan also has reported in writing that no air crash took place at Taihoku on 18th August,1945; and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose did’nt die in the said air crash.

Mr.Alessandro Quaroni is reported to have said at Kolkata on 23rd January,2009, “ I personally do not see the point of research because unfortunately, the person Netaji died……..I think in spite of the legend that (Subhas) Chandra Bose has not died, probably his death really happened in August 1945.”

He is also reported to have said, “But I do’t know if there is any Japanese report. After all, there is a possibility of a plane crash. At that time, Taiwan, where the crash occurred, was under Japanese dominion. So if there is any written proof or record of the circumstances, that should be in the Japanese records.”

We, the followers of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, are deeply shocked by this statement of the Ambassador of a friendly country like your’s and can’t help but condemn it. It has deeply hurt our feelings and we fail to understand the reasons or motives behind issuing such a statement at a time when increasingly more evidence is becoming available to confirm that the alleged air crash did not take place. This statement has given the impression as if your government has something concrete on this issue.

May I very humbly beg to know from your honor :

a)     Are the views expressed by the Ambassador of  your country the views of the Govt. of Italy?
b)     Did the Ambassador of your country took the permission from your govt to express these views? (Normally it is    believed that Ambassador is peaking for the country.)
c)     Has your govt. any evidence to support the view point expressed by the Ambassador ? If yes, we shall feel privileged and grateful for making it public.
d)     Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had been in your country during the Second World War and the then Govt. of your country had recognized the Provisional Govt of Azad Hind headed by him. Has this statement of your Ambassador anything to do with the past history of this issue ?
e)     We believe that there is an international controversy to suppress truth about the ultimate fate of Netaji . We hope that your country has no role in such a conspiracy. A clarification on the motives or reasons behind the statement of the Ambassador, will be highly appreciated
f)     Are there any records or documents related to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Indian National Army in the archives of your country ? If yes  can we have copies of such records or have access to these records ?

I hope your honor will spare time to respond to the points very humbly raised by me, a citizen of a friendly country. I have been doing research on this issue for the last about thirty years and I have been campaigning about Netaji’s ideas and controversy about his disappearance, all these years. A clarification from your side will put to rest many controversies and speculations, otherwise the statement of the Ambassador of your country will lead to many implications influencing the history not only of India but of the entire world.

Looking forward to an early response,
Your’s sincerely,

V.P.Saini
